Both tracks expect quality teaching and dancing at every level — the difference is where you want to go.

The Purpose of the Two Track System

A few important things to understand before you choose your path.

Both tracks expect quality teaching and dancing at all levels.

No transfer of credits

No transfers of credits or certificates between tracks. No transfer of credits from Teacher Certifications to Professional Certifications.

Professional Exams

What's required for the Professional Track

Requirements

  • Demonstrate all the figures in the syllabus with a partner to music as Leader and Follower.
  • Have a complete technical knowledge as given in the Dance Vision Manuals (cover to cover).
  • Exam presentation: be able to answer questions in accepted vocabulary as in the Dance Vision manuals and teaching questions commensurate with the level.

  • American Smooth (Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, V. Waltz)

  • International Latin (Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive)

Teacher Tests

What's required for the Teacher Track

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the figures listed in the Social Foundation Study Guide or on the Program Charts (for Standard tests) with a partner to music as Leader and Follower.
  • Be able to show the figures solo as Leader and Follower and give Counts.
  • Teaching question presentation: be able to answer teaching questions from the Study Guide for that Style and level.

Special note: All tests can be taken as Intermediate or Full level (for example, Intermediate Bronze 1 and 2, full Bronze 3, 4).

Subscription to the Dance Vision Syllabus app at app.dancevision.com.

Exam Processing Fee

Paid to Dance Vision via the Achievements tab in the Syllabus web app.

Examiner hourly rate and expenses. Individual rates apply.

Other Enrichment Opportunities

Beyond the two main tracks, Dance Vision also offers professional technical exams and single-dance medal tests.

Professional Technical Exams

Available as standalone exams in specialty styles:

  • Argentine Tango
  • International V. Waltz

Single Dance Teacher Medal Tests

Can be done in any dance available on Dance Vision Videos, at any level:

  • Bronze 1, 2, 3, 4
  • Silver 1, 2, 3, 4
  • Gold 1, 2, 3, 4

Requirement: Demonstrate the listed figures with a partner, as Leader and Follower.
